Do you mean John as in Captain John Hart....? If you do, there have been a few decent John/Ianto fics pop up on the "Teaspoon and an Open Mind" website.
I totally agree with you, too. This is Sci Fi, and it's Doctor Who. Of course Ianto could bloody well come back! And Eve Myles' petulant little snark in response to the fan outcry over Ianto's death, about how "the dead stay dead", was grossly hypocritical at the very least. The dead sure as hell didn't stay dead when it was Rhys on the slab in the last ep of series 1.
*deep breath*
Personally, I'd love it if Moffatt took the reins and filmed a series of Torchwood set in the far future, where Jack encounters an indirect descendent of Ianto, who just happens to look exactly like his beloved Welshman. We could have the delectable GDL back on the show, be rid of the travesty that is Gwen bloody Cooper, and it would also serve to explain why Jack looks a little older.
*another deep breath*
Sorry about the mini-rant. The plot holes in The Series That Never Was and dodgy explanations about why Ianto can't come back still piss me off.
